Canyon Painting, owned and operated by Steven Olivieri for 42 years, is a full service Interior & Exterior painting company that answers all of your questions and concerns when painting your home and provides life-long experience to bring you a high quality painting job at a fair price. Skill and industry knowledge are mandatory, but after that, Canyon Painting separates itself from other companies by understanding exactly what you need and want done, period. Then it's easy to draw up an accurate and competitive estimate.

Methods and Supplies
One reason our clients refer Canyon painting to their friends and colleagues is because of our dedication to accuracy and expertise in working with challenging drywall and plastering repairs. If needed, we will remove damaged drywall down to the studs, and remove any wet or damaged insulation if necessary, and check for any mold or mildew growth, using bleach or X-14 cleaners to remedy those problems.
From 1/4", 1/2" to 5/8" fire-code spec drywall, we use the appropriate drywall product for each job. We can also install aluminum mesh and then plaster over that to flush-match either straight walls and/or 'infinite' wall-to-ceiling curves that are typically found in homes from the 20's and 30's. We also use all job-specific caulks throughout the project and Silicone-reinforced caulks when needed, especially outside.
And there's something else Canyon Painting does that other companies may overlook or just choose not to take the time with– large tremor cracks. Most companies will throw on one thin piece of fiber-glass mesh tape and plaster over a particular crack and walk away, hoping that a minor earth tremor would not crack right through that mesh pattern. It can and does, many times, and long after they're gone. If needed, Canyon Painting will use 2 solid overlapped-layers of classic Paper-Tape over the same crack, shrouding it with a heavy-duty protective covering that would more powerfully straddle a crack if it were to ever want to try to re-emerge again under that reinforced 'paper-bridge' (short of replacing the actual wall, etc.).
Even the smallest hole-patch in the middle of a wall might still show its nagging self after an amateur patching job. Canyon Painting takes pride in making something seemingly simple like that– just disappear into the wall, once and for all.
Exterior Preparation

What really separates Canyon Painting's exterior workmanship from other painting companies is our attention to the specific-type of preparation that certain surfaces require. We perform a variety of stucco repairs, as well as work-in light carpentry repairs (from water rot or termites), where necessary.
For example, the nails used in the accompanying deck-balcony photo were not galvanized nails and eventually began rusting over time. We were able to isolate the problem before it got any worse and used Rust-Oleum oil primer, a red-oxidizing primer that encapsulated or 'froze' the rust in its tracks. This allowed us to properly fill the nail holes with Mantrose-Haeuser Ready Patch, then oil-prime the nail hole filler itself, and then wrap up the full and final priming and painting of the entire job, saving the client the prohibitive cost of potentially rebuilding that whole deck railing all over again.
We also check and clean out all gutters and leaders around the house, sometimes recommending and installing various leaf-barriers or downspout protectors. And as always, we protect and power-wash the entire house in the preparation process.

Steve was a pleasure to work with. He detailed exactly what needed to be done. I found that I had much more wood damage than I expected and yet, the quote for the entire house was still well within the budgeted amount I expected. He and his workers repaired and painted stuff that I did not even ask for! During the project, his painters were very respectful of my property and took extra care not to damage plants that were located very close to the house. I highly recommend him and he was referred to me from someone who has used him for their projects.

Steve recently completed a job for me where he had to match colors with some old plaster and stucco walls, not something I would've trusted anyone with. He did a fabulous job and was patient and attentive even as one color had to be replaced with another one after a part of the job was completed. He was also reasonable and up front with his quote and with changes as I added a few walls to the job, which I found to be particularly above board among contractors.

I used to Steve to paint my new house. He and his crew did an amazing job. He went over every detail with extreme professionalism, and spent much more time making sure the project was done right than other painters would have done. He is a real pro and I would definitely use him again and recommend him to others. Definitely hire Steve!

We hired Steve to paint and do light plaster repairs in dining room and two bathrooms in our home. Steve was very communicative with us throughout the whole project from the initial estimate and up to the end. We solicited a few bids from various highly-rated, bonded painters for the work and Steve's quote was one of the lower ones (including the higher price of using high quality Benjamin Moore paint), plus he had the best bedside manner. He was cooperative and reasonable with us on our minor change orders that came up during the process and we're very pleased with the result. We would definitely use him again.

Steve was very communicative & responsive throughout the whole process. We just needed to get 2 bedrooms painted. His bid was just a bit higher than the others I got, but his attention to detail during his initial viewing of the rooms really stood out. Then during the job he 'had to' shave down a door that was sticking, just to make it right, for no charge. We'll be using Steve again.

This is the second time I hired Steve and I couldn't have been more pleased. First of all, Steve and his crew are very neat. I joked around that they are like the "Cat and the Hat" team because at the end of the day they come in with their vacuums and get rid of all of the dust. Secondly, they are very flexible and worked around my complicated schedule and even had to take a week off in the middle of the job because of our holiday. It was no big deal and Steve couldn't have been more gracious about it. Thirdly, they work great with kids. Imagine painting a house and having a bunch of children running around! Again, our whole experience was very pleasant and my kids learned a lot about painting. Steve goes the extra mile and made several home improvements for us as well. Olivieri Painting is so much more than just painting and anyone who uses them won't be sorry. I highly recommend this company!

This was not a typical painting job, but Laura and the kids helped us get through the job and we did do some extra handyman-type of work for her, as well. I hired Steve when my girlfriend insisted on having our interior painted. Mr. Olivieri came in and grew on me. Besides doing top notch work, Steve and the entire crew were great to be around. They were punctual, honest and showed integrity. Before I knew it they were gone but a joy to have in my house. The work is extremely high end. It is hard to trust contractors in LA but I did not hesitate to turn my parents on to him. I felt an honest and friendly vibe and it has helped my family and I to the fullest extent.

Steven is a professional. He returns calls and emails promptly. He analyzes the job thoroughly so that he can give you a complete bid and timeframe that is required to complete the job. He arrived on time with a professional crew that is respectful and efficient. The completed job was done well and to my satisfaction. I would hire Steven again.
